Mr. Casey Houston is the President and Principal Engineer of Chemitics. Mr. Houston has over 20 years of experience in process safety management (PSM) with deep expertise in pressure relief and flare system (PRFS) design. Casey is an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Design Institute for Emergency Relief Systems (DIERS) group and the American Petroleum Institute (API) Subcommittee on Pressure Relief Systems (SCPRS) currently co-chair of the API Task Force on Technical Report 522. Mr. Houston is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in the state of Minnesota and a certified professional project manager (CPPM) from the University of St. Thomas.

Prior to founding Chemitics, he was a Senior Partner with ioMosaic Corp. During his fourteen-year tenure with ioMosaic Mr. Houston was critical for the successful launch of both the Houston, TX and Minneapolis, MN offices.  Casey was the PRFS Practice Leader responsible for technical support, guidance, quality assurance, and training across PRFS projects. Practice Leadership requires in-depth knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practice (RAGAGEP), including multiple corporate engineering practices, and industry standards, guidelines, and recommended practices. With ioMosaic, Mr. Houston executed and managed all aspects of PRFS design from initial data collection and data entry to scenario identification, relief requirement and capacity calculations, flare system performance evaluations, quality assurance reviews, and recommending options to mitigate potential deviations from RAGAGEP.

Before joining ioMosaic, Casey was a process safety consultant with Berwanger Inc. where he was responsible for leading and executing relief system design projects for several refineries and gas plants with a focus on hydrotreater operations.  While at Berwanger Mr. Houston was responsible for the testing and development of the Pressure Protection Manager (PPM) flare system hydraulic solver.

Mr. Houston began his professional career as a Production Assistant with Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). Casey was responsible for day-to-day process operations, developing operating procedures, optimizing chemicals usage, and ensuring compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs.
